Frightened Rabbit: Swim Until You Can’t See Land (video)
So Much Silence —
Thanks to Casey for calling attention to the new video for Frightened Rabbit’s single, Swim Until You Can’t See Land, which you can also stream (along with the B-side) at Fat Cat Records.
Frontman Scott Hutchison’s lyrics continue to touch an emotional nerve, perhaps showing signs of a recovery from the gut-wrenching breakup anthems from The Midnight Organ Fight. On Swim, he seems to have resolved to move on:
“Let’s call me a baptist, call this the drowning of the past.
She’s there on the shoreline
Throwing stones at my back
So swim until you can’t see ...

Frightened Rabbit's forthcoming single is "Swim Until You Can't See Land", due November 16 of Fat Cat. Fans of last year's fantastic The Midnight Organ Fight will be ecstatic with this track. Scott Hutchinson and Co. begin with a sparkly piano melody and end with a thick chorus of guitars and backing vocals that bleed together nicely. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself but I'm pretty sure that I'm going to love their new record, which is due early next year. Frightened Rabbit: "Swim Until You Can't See ...

Frightened Rabbit’s Midnight Organ Fight was an easy choice for my album of the year and I still think it’s stood the test of time and it will truly be one of my favourite albums…ever. That said expectations are sky high for Frightened Rabbit as they prepare for the follow-up, The Winter Of Mixed Drinks due out next year. For now they give us a peek with Swim Until You Can’t See Land and I am of course EXCITED. Caps being necessary of course.
While they are likely headed for disappointment, because there’s nowhere else to go – Swim Until You Can’t See Land is a strong track, it contains the same fragility and honest style that brought Frightened Rabbit ...

Now and Then: Frightened Rabbit
Kevchino.com - News —
Frightened Rabbit surprised a lot of people with their 2008 release The Midnight Organ Fight. It was on numerous year-end lists when not many people had previously known of the band.
The album expanded upon what their debut Sing the Greys did so well—a building of melody and lyrical sincerity. It remains to be seen if their upcoming album The Winter of Mixed Drinks will continue the trajectory of the band. However, if the first video “Swim Until You Can’t see Land” is any clue, it just might. Watch it below.
After the new video, watch the video for “The Greys” from their debut. ...

Sky Larkin and Peggy Sue at The Cameron House in Toronto
.: chromewaves.net v7.5 —
Frank YangThere are many things to like about Leeds trio Sky Larkin, not least among them their wonderfully sweet and spiky debut album The Golden Spike, but what I think I like most is how much of a good time they’re clearly having. On record, on stage, in their videos, everything Sky Larkin is permeated with a genuine, unaffected sense of fun – no brooding angst or overamped giddiness, just the natural reaction to three friends in their early 20s getting to travel around the world playing rock music without the massive weight of expectation that some of their peers are carrying (ahemxxahem). How could ...

FADED GLAMOUR —
Frightened Rabbit are probably one of my top 5 favourite bands. Over the course of their two studio albums, they've demonstrated the wonderful Scottish melancholy that sets in when it seemingly rains all the time. Or maybe that's just been my several unlucky experiences in Scotland. ...

A few single reviews I've done recently and not been arsed to post on here... Frightened Rabbit - Swim Until You Can't See Land (***) single review for the skinny Frightened Rabbit's success is based on nothing resembling modernity: ever since the first lovesick caveman grunted a tune, his descendants have been trying to marry clear storytelling with earnest convictions without tipping into mushy sentimentality. That's an easier balance to hold when girls aren't involved, so Swim's sexless metaphor about trying new things is delivered with a suitable level-headedness. Will Frightened Rabbit swim away from their ...

It's been one whole year since I started this site. Not bad for a rookie, if I do say so myself. I'll spare everyone the mushy sentiment and get right to business with a new video from my favorite Scottish band, Frightened Rabbit. The single for "Swim Until You Can't See Land" is being released ...

2010 Preview: DiS meets Frightened Rabbit
Drowned In Sound // Feed —
The first time DiS saw a three piece Frightened Rabbit play in Nottingham two years ago, you could count the number of punters on the fingers of both hands. Since then, it's been a one-way journey upwards, aided in no small part by the critical acclaim and slow-building commercial success of 2008's sophomore album The Midnight Organ Fight (No.2 in DiS' albums of 2008 ...
