Phish Cover TV on the Radio!

Now here's one for the hippies and the hipsters: Vermont jam band gods Phish covering indie rock illuminati TV on the Radio at their Albany, NY, gig on Nov. 27. Watch a video snippet below, and head to LivePhish.com for the entire MP3.

Phish are known for their covers: they ripped through renditions of AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" and the Beatles' "A Day in the Life" at Bonnaroo , and played the Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street front-to-back at their annual Halloween freak out . But Friday night's gig was their first foray into indie-dom, transforming "Golden Age"'s jittery rhythms and propulsive choruses into an angelic, 10-minute jam out that surely had many Albany Phans spinning in -- cough, cough -- ecstasy.

Buy why TVOTR? Well, for starters, the lyrics certainly fit the vibe: "All this violence / All this goes away / The vibes that rise like / Fireflies illuminate our play … In perpetual embrace / Like I said 'Love's Light is Laughter' / Your arms in the air stir a sea of ...

Find more top indie music news, videos, and blogs on IndieBlips: Indie Music, Phish, Albany, NY, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones

Bonnaroo Nails Down Dates for 2010 Festival: June 10-13th

The recession helped hasten the demise of a few festivals last year, but at least there’s one thing a music fan can count on: there will be a Bonnaroo in 2010. The ninth annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival announced today it would once again call Manchester, Tennessee home from June 10th to 13th, 2010. Tickets for the festival will go on sale at the Bonnaroo official Website starting November 27th. Like last year, fans will have the option of purchasing their tickets via rock & roll layaway (five installments of $50 rather than the lump fee).
The lineup for the 2010 Bonnaroo will be announced in late January/early February, but this year’s festival will be hard to top: Not only did Manchester get two nights of the reunited Phish, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band headlined Saturday night, and the two headliners closed out the festival by performing together during Phish’s Sunday night slot. ( Check out all our 2009 Bonnaroo coverage here. ) Other artists at ...

Find more top indie music news, videos, and blogs on IndieBlips: Indie Music, Phish
