Megastars lose glitter for paparazzi

SPARE A thought, in this straitened era, for one group of toiling tradesmen who have seen the rates they can charge slump more than 30% in the past two years. Yes, it's a putrid financial time in paparazzi land (according to detailed research by Tina Brown's Daily Beast). Brad and Angelina can't cut it any longer. Britney has fallen on her spears. Six-figure celebrity photographs are now in a 50% off bargain basement. The big news is that big stars don't rate big prices any longer – though the rather less exhilarating news is that snaps of C-list celebs can still keep bread on the table at $150 or so a throw. Quantity wins where quality ruled. Send Katie Price back to that damned jungle as quickly as possible.
Hollywood's bad girls clean up as public tires of 'the flippant factor'

Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears no longer command headlines. Some have left the party lifestyle but recession-hit Americans have their own problems to face – and now disapprove of the celebrity antics they loved It is a phenomenon that once seemed unimaginable but Paris Hilton, socialite heiress and symbol of a tarnished age of cheap fame, no longer hits the headlines. Hilton, whose waif-like blonde form first came to global attention via a sordid sex tape and then morphed into a vast commercial empire, is now a much rarer fixture on the gossip circuit. She is even living with a steady boyfriend in Los Angeles. Her one-time partner in hard-partying crime, Nicole Richie, is now a mother with two children. Nor is Hilton alone in fading from view. Two years ago, singer Britney Spears was engaged in a public meltdown, tailed by a pack of paparazzi that had many speculating she would not survive the attention. At the same time, actress Lindsay Lohan was famed for her partying, not her ...

Find more top indie music news, videos, and blogs on IndieBlips: Indie Music, Britney Spears, The Clean

Peaches Flattered by Imitators like Lady Gaga

Filed under: News , Electronic , Exclusive , Canada Peaches has always known how to push buttons. She started out on small, sweaty Canadian stages with strap-on dildos and stage blood. She let her pubic hair run really wild in her 2001 video for 'Set It Off,' donned a full beard for her 2003 'Fatherf---er' album cover and now she performs on stage with a, quote-unquote, " pussy light ."

"I'm breaking down the rock cliches and breaking down the fashion cliches, breaking down the stereotypical sexual cliches," Peaches tells Spinner. "I'm breaking down what you're used to seeing a woman onstage doing -- and for that matter, used to anyone onstage doing."

In the near-decade since she released her first album, 'The Teaches Of Peaches,' Toronto-born Merrill Nisker has carved a path of iconoclastic outrageousness and left a trail of highly successful female artists in her wake.
