Spiritualized's Jason Pierce Relives 1997 Once Again

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , UK History seems to have a habit of repeating itself. With this weekend's All Tomorrow's Parties set to relive the spirit of 1991 with performances from My Bloody Valentine , Primal Scream and J Mascis amongst others, Spiritualized are set to go back to 1997 as they take their third album, 'Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Space,' on the road in the wake of its expanded re-release. And it seems that leader Jason Pierce has once again had to deny that the album was inspired by the break-up with his then-partner Kate Radley, who subsequently married the Verve 's Richard Ashcroft .

'Who'd pay to visit an out-of-season holiday camp to watch obscure indie bands?'

All Tomorrow's Parties was never an easy sell, but as a new documentary shows, the alternative festival has defied the cynics and established itself as live music institution I started All Tomorrow's Parties 10 years ago because I wanted to give people an alternative to Reading and Glastonbury. When we started the event, a booker for one of the bigger festivals declared ATP would go down like a lead balloon: "Who in their right mind would pay £100 to go to an out-of-season holiday camp to see a load of indie bands that no one has heard of?" It wasn't easy getting this off the ground and I'm surprised it's turned into a full-time job. But with three festivals a year in the UK, one in New York and offshoot events in Australia and Spain, we must have done something right to have kept this ship afloat for so long. Warp Films recently made a documentary about ATP (you can watch an exclusive clip above) and it's a fitting testament to the last 10 years of the festival.
News Ticker: Blink-182, Whitney Houston, Conrad Murray, The Stooges

The reunited Blink-182 are getting ready to work on a new studio album. According to a tweet from Mark Hoppus , the bassist/singer is listening to demos because he “might produce a few things before Blink-182 goes into the studio in January.”
A special 25th anniversary edition of Whitney Houston , the singer’s Number One Arista debut, will hit stores January 19th. The CD/DVD features five bonus tracks (including Houston’s a cappella on “How Will I Know”), new interviews and a Merv Griffin performance from 1983.
Dr. Conrad Murray, the doctor who administered the Propofol that led to Michael Jackson’s untimely death in June, has returned to Texas and resumed his medical practice. CNN reports that Murray told a church audience, “This isn’t easy for me. Mentally it’s tough,” and that Murray resumed work out of financial need.
All Tomorrow’s Parties New York will return to Kutsher’s Country Club on September 3-5th ...

Find more top indie music news, videos, and blogs on IndieBlips: Indie Music, blink-182, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, All Tomorrow's Parties
